Wolves, Puppies and Cats

I have kids. 4 of them, lovelies.
Not that many. Other have 8, 9 or even 10.
But my kids' mess are larger than those with 10 kids. Their books are everywhere. Pencils, pens, exercise books. Dolls, nekkid barbies, cars, lil strollers, sweets wrappers, lollies wrappers are everywhere. And I've not started talking about the hygiene stuff yet. When they do shower, after much coxing-turns-threathening, the dirty clothes are strewn everywhere. And in the evenings, they can get seriously masam, hair taped to the head with sweat and the kemuncup on the legs of their pants drive me mad.
But it's okay, really.
Because I'm a mother. And mothers have children, whom they adoringly love in sweet and stinky smells, whose butts they wash and whose hair they shampoo to reveal gloriously flyaway hair.
But now the kids, who are massive mess makers themselves want PETS!
Aliya is 9 and that makes 9 longs years of resisting pets in the house. We've had many many requests of pets. From cats, to hamsters, from sugar gliders, to turtles, from budgies to crocodiles,
But 3 favourite pets keep cropping up.
Puppies.
Wolves.
Cats.
Puppies, Adani's perenial favourite. Will need to convince her more on this.
Wolves. Thanks to the movie SnowDogs, everytime we walk into our neighbourhood's pet store, Ariz would be asking loudly, "Mana wolves? Iz nak wolves!" To which I would wink to the girl incharge and ask her if she has wolves and she'd be giggling away while shaking her head. We've done that 4 times, if you must know.
But I have succumbed to cats.
I saw Maine Coon cats at a catshow recently and immediately I was bowled over. I googled and searched and found breeders. But the costs floored me. So, maybe later, I guess.
Until Mia has that kitten who died and a 3 months old cat. Mia's mother told me how both Mia and her elder sister Amalina who's 13 by the way, no longer scratch each other's eyes out. The cat's been around for like 3 weeks and they've directed their energy towards the cat, instead of fighting each other.
Hmmm.
That's a thought. My girls and that little boisterous boy I have BICKER big time with each other. Pet theraphy is attractive. But I dunno if I can deal with taking care of a pet too. I dunno what kinds of a monster I'll turn into if I find cat's poo on my precious carpet.
So, what do you think?
p/s I've said yes to a neighbour's offer for her kittens due in about 3 months. 2 of them. And now I'm having second thoughts. Should I ?

Hah, same here. Even the ayah had begged me for kittens. Once stray kitten stayed for a while until I discover sarah kena kurap! Must add extra clinic time & cost. Afiq cried when the kitten tak balik, whole family go hunting. Too much for me. Tunggu the children besar2 skit lah.

they are extra work..kena train suh berak kat litter lagi. one of my friends ada kitten, he even gets up in the night to give his kitten milk! aiya cam baby plak.
how about getting a rabbit or hamster. they're smaller, they have their own cages and it'd be great fun watching the kids be 'responsible' uhuk for cleaning the shit and hay. =p

since I do not like having cats around in the house - berak, kencing, muntah sapa nak cuci tu???
and beware with cats - but kalau dapat breed elok jaga kasi bersih tu tak jadi kes la kot - just a reminder though.
my husband's niece was 5 or 6 years old at that time, she took home litter cat - baby cat and put in the drawer kat rumah.
She played with the cat siang malam, pegang cium..
Shortly afterthat she had fever, warded and the kuman attack her brain - the brain get swollen - filled with sort of liquids - sedut the liquids in the end dah sampai waktu dia janji dengan Tuhan, she passed away. Dah lama ni, several years already.
The doctor told us, the kuman probably came from the cat yang kotor tu.
I guess, kalau kucing yang bela elok tu siap ada shampoo for kutu and all kan? but still, I memang tak kuasa la nak ada pet, tak larat mak!

hemmm..i think bela kucing tak sesuai utk isi rumahtangga you heheh...like OO said, lecehlaa bela cat...even yg bersih, dok dalam rumah pun still u hv to manage the poo, litter box, the fur yg melekat kat ur precious carpet, vaccinations and all sort of other treatments...
belikan je anak2 you digi pets :) low maintenance lol :))

FD .. I had the same thoughts too .. but rabbits, emmm they 'reproduce" rather speedily kan? karang I nak sekor dua, dapat satu colony pulak .. ha ha .. and hamster tu, I ada sedikit masalh geli .. macam anak tikus .. ewww .. and then imagine if hamster lepas, jenuh you nak cari .. dia kan laju .. that's why we got turtles for the kids.. but it's just too s-l-o-w! told them, kalau turtle tu nak lari, kalau seminggu baru sampai kat gate .. ha ha ha!
OO .. OMG! *terbeliak mataku* aiseyman .. ni yang nak kena pikir tiga juta kali ni .. aisey aisey ..
zan .. digi pets? dah beli dah ! ha ha ha.. tapi not much excitement .. but come to think of it, my kids are all jaguh kampung, nak kucing but then bila kucing datang dekat, sebatu dia lari .. and ariz pulak, kalau dapat kat dia, habis la diangkat kawan tu ikut ekor la .. eeeee takuttt!

when my kids asked for pets (specifically fish or turtles, sebab ihsan is allergic to cat/rabbit/hamster hair), I always tell them that they can get a pet when they can keep their room neat and tidy and clean for 30 days straight, no breaks, no exceptions.
That kinda put a damper on their plan .. heh heh.

yes Garttt kurappp to my horror lah lucky baru je kena. The dr terus tanya if we keep cat mak ai tension kejap.
Elisa's comment reminds me of one of the PB & Jay story line masa they want to keep that fish tu.

I lovethem. till now. ko ada bibik apa, suruh dia bersihkanlah. heh heh. and make sure the kids do their fair share. tapi adakah ini maknanya aliya seorang aje akan kena? heh heh
pets teach kids to be responsible and loving. yang aku tak sanggup tu kalau nak pergi jalan atau kena pindah ke negara orang. nangis babe. nangis

I rasa lah, rabbit is better than kucing. In terms of cuteness, lebih kurang tapi x manja2 sangat kut.. rasanya lagi senang jaga rabbit dari kucing, cuma jangan bagi dia terlepas lah.. We used to have 2 rabbits, x sampai seminggu beli dah hilang... habih RM100++ melayang camtu je...

actually budak2 yg grow up with pets kurang allergies and lebih kuat immune system nya.
rabbits tu..amiklah dua yang sama jantina. hehehehe. i dont think they'll be reproducing even if they were homos3xual. =p

tapi you cant tell the rabbit's gender while their young. You kena tunggu dia besar sikit baru boleh nampak ada testicles or not.
So if you're getting young rabbits, you'd just have to try your luck.
ikan taknak? I think less maintenance.
beli a few goldfish and then beli ikan dbkl to help clean the tank.

my nieces and nephew penah mintak i belikan pet for them (sbb mak bapak diorg tak layan their petition), so i suggest to them;
sape willing nk bela lembu, or kambing then i boley belikan.
at least diorg tolong jaga, sampai masa matang i bley jualkan.

i ada kucing tapi tak pernah bagi masuk rumah.... everytime after play with them I will ensure budak2 mandi or at least basuh tgn... bab nak latih kucing berak kat pasir dia tu senang je... kais je kaki dia kat pasir tu sekali dua.. pastu dah terer la... cuma bab lemau nye time kita nak bersihkan ... eeuuuwww gua masih tak sanggup.. so far my husband yg buat semua tu..ahaks!!

Lollies .. yes, that’s what I thought too .;.but of course la pros and cons are everywhere .. and seperti ko, I lied with cats all my childhood life .. my 13 year old Gebu dies of old age and I cried for a week. My youngest sis cried for two weeks when her Tomcat got hit by a car and ran into the house, hit a wall and literally dropped dead. But it taught me compassion. Eh ye ke ni?
Mom-of-3 .. I thought so too .. but rabbit mahal giler .. like you said la .. sekor RM100 .. kalu hilang, terbeliak bijik mata la .. but at least, they’re in a cage and do not wander inside the house .. tapi rumah kecikla babe .. we used to have rabbits when I was younger. Mula-mula 2 ekor, before we knew it, satu keturunan rabbit were living in our yard .. I remember going to this stream and ambik kangkong sungai to feed the rabbits .. tapi busuk kan?
Screw .. heheh! Me too .. BELAH-LA RABBIT! .. you are so sadistic mom-of-3. Ha ha! Maine Coon is the largest domestic cat, almost puppy-sized and its hair takde la mengerbang and tanggal selalu .. but oh so the very mahal ..

OO .. I remember, dulu I used to buy little guppies letak dalam big pasu yang ada kiambang .. then I discovered they’ve literally been boiled to death in the hot sun. Aku sungguh kejam! Erkk!
OLAB .. definitely an original idea … but I can guarantee you Ariz will take up the offer for goats, cows or sheeps .. *horror* .. eh, teringat bertique and his kambings. How’s he now eh?
mamarawks .. lemau? tu dah category fearfactor tuh .. but a neighbour told me that if you feed them the boxed catfood, the poo isn't that smelly .. betoi ka?

yup... itu bau agak kurang tambah plak if you pakai litter sand yg ada odor control... tapi gak i masih takbleh nak ngadap mende tu hahahah...

tapi saya terima, kerana itu kenyataan. *hangs head in shame kerana gagal bela digipet dengan baik*
i have TWO cats, kutu-free and vaccinated untuk feline leukemia. dua-dua ada mahligai masing-masing, outside the house. once a day or once every two days, kasi lepas main-main kat luar. i am particular about bulu kucing dlm rumah so normally pintu bilik semua tutup if/when the cats are in the house. also, i worry kalau lepas terus, my cats kena langgar ke, kena curi ke, buat business kat rumah orang ke (the boy cat lah), or worst, jangkit kutu or penyakit from other strays. so kucing2 saya memang main-main sesama family members saja. so far okaylah. ada juga 'cakap-cakap' nak adopt another one, but so far belum dapat my approval lagi. tak pasal-pasal tambah ahli keluarga. sheesh.
oh one more thing, dulu i jaga hal-ehwal kucing segala. but then i got preggy with aidiin, famyBoy took over... sampailah hari ini. hee hee hee.
tanyalah ninuk. dia ada bela kucing seekor. sebelum tu dia buat site visit kat my house. :)
